Are techers teaching?

Do all teachers do their job to the best of their abilities or do they sit behind their desk waiting to be paid for telling the kids to teach themselves?

  1. I can't speak for other teachers, but I try to come up with new prjects every year. I think the relationship between a class and their teacher goes both ways. Are the students coming prepared? Do they participate? I think sometimes it is necessary for students to "teach" themselves...but not always.

  2. I personally believe that its better to have both. I believe that us as students need to actually at least skim the chapter and do a little extra work on their own. The teachers that make us teach ourselves are only trying to prepare us for college and I see that now since I'm taking a seated class. Every week we have a chapter to read before the next class, and then when that class comes we have a group discussion and she goes over the main points to just summarize the chapter. She expects us to at least have a brief understanding of the chapter and also ask her questions on the things that we don't understand. With that being said, I think that a combination of both us teaching ourselves and teachers teaching us, is the right way to go.
